Description

Château Gigognan Clos du Roi is sourced from the low and mid-altitude terraces of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape, where limestone-clay soils are crowned with the region’s emblematic rolled pebbles (galets roulés). Shaped by a Mediterranean climate of dry winters, long sun-drenched summers, and moderated by the constant mistral wind, the vineyards benefit from exceptional natural balance and vitality.

In the glass, Clos du Roi reveals a luminous cherry-red hue. The nose is refined and expressive, unfolding layers of pure red fruit with an elegant, flattering aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is expansive and finely structured, evolving progressively with precision and grace. Subtle ageing notes are seamlessly woven into the fruit, lending depth without weight and creating an impression that is both airy and sensual.

A racy yet poised expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos du Roi offers remarkable harmony, clarity, and finesse. It is a natural companion to red meats, game, and mature cheeses, showcasing the estate’s mastery of terroir and balance.

Château Gigognan is a historic estate located in the southern Rhône Valley, at the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. With roots dating back to the Middle Ages, the château is today known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, respecting both terroir and tradition.

The estate works predominantly with classic Rhône varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, sourced from diverse soils including galets roulés, sands, and limestone. Château Gigognan combines careful vineyard work with precise, low-intervention winemaking to produce wines that balance power, freshness, and elegance.

Renowned for both its Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône wines, Château Gigognan expresses the character of the Rhône with depth, purity, and a strong sense of place.
