Description
Portal da Calçada Vinho Verde Rosé is a pale, bright salmon-pink rosé from Portugal’s Vinho Verde DOC, made entirely from the local Vinhão grape. Fresh, light, and easy-drinking, it offers vibrant aromas of strawberry, watermelon, and raspberry, lifted by subtle floral notes.
Low in alcohol and driven by racy Vinho Verde acidity, the palate is crisp and refreshing with good volume and a long, clean finish. Best served well chilled, it’s an ideal warm-weather rosé.
Production
Carefully selected grapes are de-stemmed and gently pressed, with the juice clarified naturally by gravity settling. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks over approximately two weeks, preserving freshness and purity. Before bottling, the wine is filtered and stabilised to ensure clarity and consistency.
Producer
Founded in 1917 in the Vinho Verde region, Calçada Wines is one of the area’s oldest producers, specialising in still white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Now led by the third generation of the family, the estate blends deep-rooted tradition with modern winemaking precision.
Beyond wine, Calçada is also synonymous with hospitality. Casa da Calçada, a 16th-century palace converted into a luxury hotel, is a regional landmark and home to what is considered the oldest vineyard in Vinho Verde, a proud symbol of the estate’s heritage.
