Quinta da Calcada is a renowned winery in Amarante, situated right in the heart of the Vinho Verde region. With a history dating back to 1917, this family-owned winery is one of the oldest producers of high-quality white and sparkling wines in the area.
One of its most popular wines is the Portal da Calcada Loureiro Alvarinho. Made with carefully selected grapes that are de-stemmed and slightly pressed, the juice is then decanted by gravity and fermented in stainless steel vats for around 15 days. This wine boasts a yellow citric colour and expresses the true character of the Vinho Verde region with its subtle floral notes and fruity aroma. Its vivid acidity results in a very fresh, attractive, and gastronomic wine, making it a perfect choice for an aperitif or paired with light and fresh starters.
