Description
Château Gigognan Côtes du Rhône Rouge is a classic Rhône blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre, sourced from south-facing vineyards near the château. The vines grow on clay-limestone and sandy soils, contributing both freshness and depth to the wine.
Vinified with care in temperature-controlled vats, followed by post-fermentation maceration, the wine is aged for around six months in stainless steel and concrete vats to preserve purity and fruit expression. It shows a bright, vibrant colour and an expressive nose of crunchy red fruits, lifted by subtle liquorice notes.
On the palate, the wine is fresh, balanced, and approachable, making it an excellent match for grilled meats and southern French cuisine. It also works beautifully as an aperitif, offering classic Rhône character in an easy-drinking, versatile style.
Château Gigognan is a historic estate located in the southern Rhône Valley, at the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. With roots dating back to the Middle Ages, the château is today known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, respecting both terroir and tradition.
The estate works predominantly with classic Rhône varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, sourced from diverse soils including galets roulés, sands, and limestone. Château Gigognan combines careful vineyard work with precise, low-intervention winemaking to produce wines that balance power, freshness, and elegance.
Renowned for both its Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône wines, Château Gigognan expresses the character of the Rhône with depth, purity, and a strong sense of place.
