Description
Albariño is one of Spain’s most exciting white grape varieties, and its growing popularity is richly deserved. Previously released as Pazo de Mirasoles Albariño, this wine now appears under a new name and label, but remains exactly the same wine from the same producer. Renamed Contra Viento Albariño, meaning “Against the Wind” or “against all odds”, it reflects the bold decision to plant a coastal grape variety in the heart of sun-drenched La Mancha, a region where “the sun reigns and the wind never stops.”
Despite the warm, dry climate, the vineyards’ high altitude and cool nighttime temperatures preserve freshness and aromatic lift. The result is a wine with classic Albariño character: bright lemon meringue notes, crisp acidity, and a clean, mineral-driven finish. Vibrant, precise, and still offering outstanding value, Contra Viento delivers freshness and clarity that defy its inland origins.
